So yesterday was a shopping day so that I had healthy foods in the house to eat. Although I've always seen the fruits and vegetable aisle of the market, I've spent little time there. An occasional tomato, some lettuce and on rare occasions, some bananas. Oh yes, maybe a small watermelon in the summer, but not always. But yesterday's trip was a new and might I say, pleasant experience.
Starting with some amazingly purple plums and nectarines that were yellow, orange, with a hint of red, I was filling my basket with this wonderful summer bounty. Off to the beautiful greens, lettuce, cucumbers, zucchini, broccoli, celery and the fresh herbs, let's not forget them. Getting my greens will help with my 21 Day Fix Meal Plan, as will all of the other things I bought. Sweet potatoes, baking potatoes, apples, bananas (the old standby), grapes, strawberries, pineapples, even that funny little fruit kiwi, now my cart is half full with all of the colors of the rainbow. Who knew that eating healthy could be such fun and so easy to prepare, a lot that doesn't need anything but a quick wash and it's ready to eat.
If you're anything like me, I want to do what's right when it comes to better eating habits, but I quickly fall back into the bad habits. Maybe seeing and experiencing the rainbow this morning was just what I needed. I'm excited to try my new finds in my Shakeology shake this afternoon, maybe strawberry and banana with a vanilla or strawberry shake. Who's with me?
If you want to be on this journey with me, contact me through email at marv131@beachbodycoach.com and we can talk more about what lies ahead and the rainbow that might be at your house now.

DREAMS = REALITY
When I saw this post on facebook, it really hit home. I've always dreamed, or at least for the past 20 years have dreamed, that one day I'd be in much better shape and so much heathlier. Here's the problem with those dreams, NO ACTION!
I can't dream my out of shape body into a healthier one. I can't dream my body into walking a full marathon (my bucket list goal). I can't dream myself into eating only food that's good for me. I need to take ACTION! I need to make myself do these things to make my dreams my reality.
I know I can do it and I know you can too! Change is hard, the older you get the harder it gets, but it's not impossible. So I may never have the body of a twenty year old again, but I sure as heck can change the body I'm in by just moving it and feeding it better foods.
It's really all about what you want. The distance between your dream and your reality is determined by your actions, so if you would like to start closing the gap between the two, join me on my Beachbody Challenge using the 21 Day Fix. Just email me at marv131@beachbodycoach.com and we can do this together.
Let's make our dreams our reality!

WALKING
These sneakers are made for walking, and that's just what I'll do...
You know this song, only they say boots, but they would be way to uncomfortable to go for a walk. :-) Speaking of walking, I went for a really nice walk today, something that I haven't done in much to long. What an amazing feeling, nice breeze blowing, beautiful sunshine and not many people, only 6 actually, on the walking path.
I get so "busy" with life that I forget to actually live my life. Taking care of myself should be on the top of the "to do" list everyday. Of course I need to do other things that are equally important, but making the time to stay healthy is oh so important too.
If you feel the same way about your life and need to put yourself on the top of the list, then just do it. Make a mental or in my case an actual list for everyday. Put exercising, be it walking, running, working out with the Beachbody Challenge 21 Day Fix or whatever motivates you, right at the top. You'll be so proud of yourself when you check that off the list everyday!
If you would like to join in on a 21 Day Fix by Beachbody, just contact me at marv131@beachbodycoach.com and we can do it together. Being accountable to someone else is a great motivator.
Just keep moving...

"WORK"ING OUT
There's a difference between working and "working out", but of course everyone already knows that. But what happens when your "work" becomes your "workout" for the day?
I'm currently doing some work around the house, scrapping, scrubbing, painting and cleaning up after. Up and down the step ladder more times then I can count, bracing myself so as not to fall (working those calf muscles for sure), reaching overhead to clean the ceiling or paint, stretching to reach places maybe just a little out of my reach, and lets not forget the up/down motion of painting with a paintbrush or roller. In my book, this is a work out, not just work.
It's hard to log a work out when you aren't really doing a set exercise plan or going for a walk or run. How do you measure what calories you've actually burned, how much toning you've done for your core and large muscle groups? Is this work really a work out?
I'm very sorry to say, although you are working, you still need to work out. Your body needs continuous movement, like in a workout , to show any benefits of your motion. It's recommended that you get 150 minutes a week of aerobic exercise and two sessions of strength training to keep a happy and healthy body. With the workouts provided by the Beachbody Challenge Program, you'll meet these requirements without a problem. Just following your coach each and every day will strengthen you body and mind, you'll feel like a new, stronger person that your body will attest to.
If you think that this training program will work for you and you'd like more information, please feel free to contact me at marv131@beachbodycoach.com and we can talk about your "working" out.
Have an awesome day! Thanks for reading!

BLESSINGS
My life is and has been filled with many, many blessings. I had wonderful parents, have great sisters, an amazing husband, two awesome children and five (could be six soon :-)) super grandchildren. So, with all of these blessings, why am I still wanting to make a change in my life?
The answer is very clear, I want to be around to enjoy every day I can with my amazing, awesome family. I know that making changes in one's life can be difficult, to say the least, but the older we get, truly it gets even harder. I say to myself that I want to change and start doing what I need to to be here for family, but then the fridge calls my name and I'm right back to doing what I didn't want to do anymore. It's such a difficult habit to break. :-(
God has blessed me with a now healthy heart, cancer free body and a good attitude, so why do I continue to fall right back into an unhealthy lifestyle? Lack of motivation, maybe, laziness, could be, the desire is there most certainly, maybe I need to take every change slowly so as not to burn out and get discouraged. I think that's the key.
I'm sure there are other 65 year old women, or younger or older, who feel this way, but let's not let it get us down ladies! We are strong, we are women! I'm working on my changes, and although I'm not expecting to have the body of a 20 year old, Beachbody is helping me have a better 65 year old body.
If you'd like to help your whatever age body be all it can be, email me at marv131@beachbodycoach.com and we can work on this together.
